The Process & Power:

Blessed Stitch started in April 2003. It is God’s business and I am just the hands which He uses as a tool to glorify His name. God has placed a call on my heart to wrap children in His Word. The Word of God is so powerful and is able to do amazing things beyond our limited human understanding. Blessed Stitch blankets can intercede on a child’s life and wrap them in prayer and most importantly God’s Word. We have heard great testimonies as to the Power of God which is demonstrated through these blankets and the children they have been given too. We have also made them for grown children (adults) and have been blessed to hear how God has used them to heal hurting souls. That is our mission: To intercede on God’s behalf and wrap new lives or existing ones in the Word of God and prayer. Each blanket for me is a journey with God: listening for His guidance in the prayers that are said, the verse selected and even the fabric. I am still in awe of the process when He intervenes and shows me exactly how to proceed for certain blankets. These are truly His gifts to the recipient! They are my favorite ones to make!

Let me explain the process of how I make the blankets and why they are so special. We are a company that believes in the power of God’s Word (Hebrew 4:12). Therefore we can not think of a better way to start a child’s life than by wrapping them in His Word. So, I take selecting the verse very seriously. There are two different ways the verse on this blanket was selected; both have God’s direction involved. Either the purchaser of the blanket chose it or we went on a journey with God’s Hand leading us through scripture for the perfect verse that is intended for this child. Just as unique and wonderful is the child’s name and meaning, so is the verse that was selected for them.

All colors of binding and fabric are also individualized for each blanket. Some have even been pre-selected by God Himself. While stitching the blanket’s verse God has called me to pray for this child – not just one prayer but an outpouring of blessing & protection. God has shown me that my needle is like the Sword the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17) and with every piercing of the needle into the fabric pushes the prayers into the very fibers of the blanket. I also use three threads for hand-embroidering the verse which represent the Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and “a threefold cord is not quickly broken” (Ecclesiastes 4:12).

When the binding is sewn to the fleece I am in prayer again. I follow a general guideline for these prayers unless the Spirit leads me otherwise. The first side of the blanket I pray about: Their Faith; salvation (accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior), living by the Word, thirsting for the Word, and spreading the Word. Side two: Protection; hedge of protection on their mind and body, no physical or mental abuse, staying pure, resisting temptation to conform to the world, and to resist drugs & alcohol. Side three: Family; being raised in a Christian home with loving parents, no legacy of divorce, & harmony between siblings. Side four: Their Future; using the gifts to glorify God, their future spouse, their future children, and for joy, wisdom & happiness to fill their days. I also pray that this blanket calms them and that it provides security to them.

I hope you have a clearer understanding of how special and unique this blanket is. Just like the child that it has been made for! It is intended to be used, please wrap your child in the power of it – let them sleep on His Word too! My prayer is that it will be your child’s favorite blanket, and may all the prayers cover them with His Power and Mercy giving Him all the Glory!
